Tim Kerr, einer der interessantesten Aktiven der Punkszene von Austin, Texas, wird seine Bilder ausstellen. Kerr wird selbst anwesend sein und auch danach noch einige Zeit in Deutschland weilen. Und falls jemand wie Tim auf irische Folklore steht und mit dem Mann musizieren will, er freut sich auf gemeinsames musizieren!<\/p>\n

Wenn Selbstverwirklichung keine Grenzen kennt, warum versuchen Menschen st\u00e4ndig, sie einzugrenzen\/in eine Schublade zu stecken?<\/p>\n

Musik und Kunst haben immer eine gro\u00dfe Rolle in meinem Leben gespielt und spielen es noch. Der Vollst\u00e4ndigkeit halber: mein erster Kunstpreis war der erste Preis in einem Posterwettbewerb zum Thema Feuerbek\u00e4mpfung in der Grundschule. Ich habe einen Abschluss in Malerei und Fotografie an der Universit\u00e4t in Texas gemacht, wo ich mit Gary Winogrand studiert habe. Ich bekam au\u00dferdem ein Stipendium der Ford-Stiftung, als ich an der UT war. Direkt nach dem Collegeabschluss rutschte ich ins Fr\u00fchstadium der DIY-Szene. Ich war seither in Bands, die (um nur ein paar zu nennen) auf Touch & Go, Estrus, Sympathy, In The Red, Sub Pop und Kill Rock Stars Platten heraus brachten und habe mit Bands all der oben genannten Labels und weiteren in den USA und in \u00dcbersee Aufnahmen gemacht.<\/p>\n

Eins f\u00fchrt zum anderen und man hat mich jetzt gebeten, Kunst auszustellen. Ich hatte eine Menge Ausstellungen wie die Gruppenausstellung im PS1 in New York und die Gruppenausstellung f\u00fcr das Juxtapose in Minneapolis plus etliche andere Gruppen- und Einzelausstellungen in LA, London, Portugal, New York, Chicago, Al, San Francisco, Portland. Es stehen Ausstellungen in Deutschland, San Francisco und Tokyo an. Mit meinem Freund Rich Jacobs habe ich auch ein paar Ausstellungen gemacht. Leute, die ihn kennen, haben meinen Namen m\u00f6glicherweise auch schon einmal geh\u00f6rt. Das Experience Music Project in Seattle hat einen Vortrag \u00fcber meinen Werdegang gehalten. Ich habe dem Austin History Center Gegenst\u00e4nde zur Musikszene, mit der ich zu tun hatte, gespendet. Ich wurde in die Texas Music Hall of Fame aufgenommen. Ich habe Musik f\u00fcr Choreographen, die hier in Austin, in New York, in Kalifornien aufgetreten sind, komponiert und aufgenommen, und ich habe Filmmusik gemacht (unter anderem f\u00fcr Bill Daniels Bozo Texino). Ich habe LP-Cover, Flyer (von denen nun einige in B\u00fcchern verewigt sind), Skateboardgraphiken und Anzeigen gestaltet.<\/p>\n

Es gibt eine Menge Interviews in einer Vielzahl von Magazinen und im Netz \u00fcber all das und derzeit wird auch eine Dokumentation \u00fcber mich erstellt. Der Punkt ist: wenn mich jemand auf eine Sache beschr\u00e4nkt, tut er sich \u2013 und mir \u2013 keinen Gefallen. Zum Beispiel spiele ich derzeit Handharmonika und Banjo und mache seit neuestem irische Musik und altmodische Saiteninstrumentmusik mit Freunden hier in Austin. Ich bin noch nicht tot und noch aktiv und auch, wenn ich stolz auf alles bin, das bisher passiert ist, so hoffe ich doch, dass das Beste noch kommt (grins).<\/p>\n

Music and art have and do play a big part in my life. For those with score cards , my first art award was winning a fire prevention poster contest in elementary school. I earned a degree in painting and photography at the University of Texas where I studied with Gary Winogrand. I was also awarded a Ford Foundation Grant while at UT. Right after college graduation I got involved with the early stages of the DIY scene.I have since been in bands that have had records out on Touch & Go , Estrus, Sympathy, In The Red, Sub Pop, and Kill RockStars to name a few… and recorded bands for all the labels above and then some, both in the US and overseas. One thing leads to and from another , and I am now being asked to show art.I have had a lot of shows … like the group show at PS1 in New York and the group show for Juxtapose in Minneapolis, plus lots of other group and solo shows in LA, London, Portugal, New York, Chicago, Al, Texas,San Francisco,Portland. I have upcoming shows in Germany, San Francisco and Tokyo. I have also done several shows with my good friend Rich Jacobs. Folks that know about him, may have heard my name as well.
\nThe Experience Music Project in Seattle did an oral history about me. I have donated items pertaining to the musical history I have been involved with to the Austin History Center. I was inducted into the Texas Music Hall Of Fame. I have composed and recorded music for Choreographers who performed here in Austin, New York, CA. and I have done soundtrack work as well (the music for Bill Daniels Bozo Texino being one of those.) I have designed album covers, flyers (some now in books), skateboard graphics and ads.<\/p>\n

There are many interviews in a variety of magazines, (web as well) about all of the above and a documentary about me is being made as well. The point is when someone confines me to one box, they do themselves, and me, a disservice . Case in point; I am now playing a button accordion and banjo and have been playing Irish and Old Time String Band music with friends here in Austin. Im not dead yet and still active, and as proud as I am of all thats happened before, I hope I have not seen the best thing yet (big smile).<\/p>\n
